– Chris Shiflett on his use of URLs like omniti.com/does/security in a recent OmniTI redesign. At my day job we’re working to improve URL handling in our own CMS, and this change from the traditional about subfolder is a nice touch (about works too). (via Jon Tan)

I don’t read many novels, but Portuguese writer José Saramago’s Blindness sticks in my mind as a favourite of the last decade. The film adaptation by City Of God director Fernando Meirelles was originally to have starred Daniel Craig in the lead role, but his replacement Mark Ruffalo is a superior choice. I love the bleached-out look of this trailer; it’s even better in HD.

Dutch icon designer and proprietor of Cocoia Sebastiaan de With has released a series of HD QuickTime (and iPhone-ready) screencasts detailing the icon creation process, as well as some history, standards and guidelines. I’m seriously considering paying the €95 price tag for this level of insight, if for no other reason than it may improve my waning Photoshop skills. (via Matt Comi)

Great music video by Michel and Olivier Gondry who teamed up to to direct this one for the band Lacquer. The video is about a guy who has to drive across the US from Los Angeles to New York. To create the video, they shot it on 16mm film, shooting one frame every second during the day, and then one frame every 10 seconds at night. The overall effect is pretty sweet, compressing a seven day journey...
