– Mark Wubben, one of the chief coders behind sIFR, throws his support behind Microsoft’s EOT format for enabling custom fonts in web pages. I’m in total agreement here: EOT in its present form may not get the go-ahead, but its approach of work interoperably while respecting typeface...

TumblePhone →
The feedback on my recent iPhone interface for Tumblr was that it was difficult to set up, so I’ve made it easier. You can now direct users to an iPhone-optimised version of your Tumblr site using a URL like this:
http://tumblephone.com/<username>/
The core of the resulting site is the same as for the self-hosted version, with none of the hassle. If you use it, let me know.

Richard Dunlop-Walters:
One of the most frequently mentioned gripes with Tumblr’s audio post functionality is the lack of a continuous playlist of audio posts. Various people have attempted to hack workarounds (myself included, with limited success), but none come close to what Dan Kantor has managed.
Dan’s solution is powered by Streampad and appears as a narrow strip across the bottom...

Nathan Smith interviews eight interaction designers on the pros and cons of both apps. I’ve used Fireworks since version 1.0 and am only a quarter as productive in Photoshop, but many others find it difficult to grasp. Either way there’s some good advice here for users of both.

iPhone interface for Tumblr
Last week I was pointed, by Phil Howie, to the iUI framework. It’s the continuation of Joe Hewitt’s initial work to create an iPhone interface library for web apps that can be applied using CSS classes and JavaScript, and it works pretty nicely, mimicking the iPhone look and feel and replicating many common controls.
The mobile template provided by Tumblr is fairly plain, and, while...

Tumblr template engine overhaul →
I’ve put my draft post on what’s missing from the custom theme engine on a shelf in light of this announcement from the Tumblr staff. By the looks of it, we’ll now be able to output more specific blocks of content, such as in this example code:
{block:Posts type="photo" tagged="spotlight" count="5"}
This request would output the five most recent photo posts that are tagged...
