George Lois’s iconic cover photo of Muhammad Ali for the April 1968 issue of Esquire pays homage to a 15th-century painting of St. Sebastian by Andrea del Castagno. An exhibition entitled “George Lois: The Esquire Covers” opens tomorrow at New York’s MOMA and runs until March 31, 2009.
