The Banner Concerts campaign by Belgium’s Boondoggle agency picked up five of the 16 golds awarded at this year’s Cannes Cyber Lions for online advertising. The campaign streamed gigs by local bands to a selection of popular Belgian websites, with band members crammed into custom-made boxes the same aspect ratio as common banner ad sizes. Brilliantly executed and downright inspiring.

The campaign contributed three out of four Alt pieces selected as winners in New York’s prestigious 365: AIGA Annual Design Competition, all of which become part of the AIGA Design Archives. The film is so good overall that it makes me wonder whether the Academy will have the balls to nominate it for Best Picture, rather than relegating it to the ridiculous and artificial “Animated” ghetto. The odds that there will be five better films released this year are slim.
