I immersed myself in 2001: A Space Odyssey for a week, watching the film twice along with all the ‘making of’ footage and documentaries, researching concept art and posters online, and doing a bunch of sketching.

Oregon artist Carson Ellis earlier this month revealed her cover illustration for the first in husband (and Decemberists frontman) Colin Meloy’s forthcoming series of books for young people, entitled Wildwood. The book, “a classic tale of adventure, magic and danger, set in an alternate version of modern-day Portland” will be published by Harper Collins in September.
