“Introducing Final Cut Pro X”

  • Apple: Here's Final Cut Pro X.
  • Editors: This is an outrage. Where is EDL? Where is OMF?! What have you done with XML?!
  • Apple: Shut up, nerds. Here it is. It's the future.
  • Editors: So help me God, I will switch to Adobe Premiere.
  • Apple: You do that.
  • Editors: That's it. I'm switching now. I am NOT TO BE TRIFLED WITH.
  • Apple: Enjoy.
  • Editors: Here I go. Adobe Premiere. Here I go.
  • Apple: Steve Jobs!
  • THE END

Glenn Beck illustrated by Daniel Clowes (via Andy Kelly):

“I was asked by the NYT to draw Glenn Beck for the cover of the Sunday magazine — apparently, he wasn’t going to sit down for a photo-shoot with the Times and so they had to hire an illustrator for their big profile. … I turned in the illustration on a Monday and was told that Beck had in fact agreed to come in and sit for a photo over the weekend, so they couldn’t use my illustration. Thanks for telling me. The back-and-white photo they used was perhaps a bit more complimentary to Mr. Beck, so I’d say he made a good call.”

Back to Work (Episode 1)

  • Merlin Mann: To tell you the truth Dan, yeah, I mean I like doing podcast stuff, but there’s a reason I stopped doing the Merlin Show, and there’s a reason— I mean it’s hard. For me. To do.
  • Merlin Mann: And I like the stuff that you do so much. And I really like— oh, god, who’s that guy with the weird hair? Is it Grubby? What’s his name … Grubber?
  • Dan Benjamin: John Gruber.
  • Merlin Mann: The guy— what’s his name?
  • Dan Benjamin: John Gruber.
  • Merlin Mann: I’m not familiar with his work. But he seems like a really mean guy and a bit of an alcoholic.
  • Dan Benjamin: *laughing*
  • Merlin Mann: —and you seem to keep him on an even keel. He doesn’t really talk like that. When you’re with him, he sounds more like some kind of a puppet that somebody dropped.
  • Merlin Mann: And you keep him sounding like somebody who’s not out of his mind, and I need you to do that for me.
