State of the Internet, a motion type presentation by the Jess3 agency of mostly mind-blowing statistics from the big social networks during 2009.

Longboarding at Goat Hill filmed by Mammoth Media using a Nikon D90. The vintage grading is perfect.

Khalid Mohtaseb shot and graded this footage in his spare time while on assignment in Haiti following last month’s earthquake. He used a Canon 5D2 and Kessler Pocket Dolly, and all footage was shot in natural light. Stunning. (via Zach Klein)

New teaser trailer created by Prologue for HBO’s The Pacific, the Hanks/Spielberg-produced follow-up to Band Of Brothers. The 10-part series based on books by Robert Leckie and Eugene B. Sledge follows the exploits of three US marines during World War II, and debuts March 14.

I mentioned Alex Roman’s work a couple of weeks back. Here’s what happens when motion is added to his beautiful stills: everything in The Third & The Seventh was created and animated in 3D software. I can’t fault a single frame. Watch it in HD.

Update: Alex has posted that not quite everything is 3D modelled. Elements sourced elsewhere include the photographer (shot on green screen), pigeons, timelapsed flowers, aeroplane and sky backgrounds.

Eric Peltier’s DADADA-2010. Made me laugh.

Pretty happy with how this turned out: my daughter and nephews enjoying the sunshine on our southern hemisphere Christmas Day. This is my first use of the video capability of the Nikon D300s, paired with a 50mm f/1.4 prime. With the aperture wide open the shutter speed was very fast, hence the staccato effect where individual water drops are visible rather than a stream from the hose. Soundtrack is by Belle & Sebastian.

From Digital Kitchen’s Vimeo account, behind-the-scenes and extended footage (NSFW) from the True Blood main titles shoot, which made use of 8mm, 16mm, handicam and HD footage.

This promotional film by Charles and Ray Eames includes a detailed look at the internals of Polaroid’s SX-70 camera, including its lens assembly and the mechanical operation that follows each shutter press. The style, framing and voiceover are all impeccable. (via Pat Dryburgh)

Martin Lang filmed The Second Vision over a five-month period using a Nikon D90 with a custom curve file — created to replicate the look of Kodak’s Vision2 5229 film stock — loaded into the camera itself. The results are gorgeous. (via Curved White)
